Dublin City Council has begun construction work on creating a car-free plaza at the bottom of Liffey Street Lower and upgrading the remaining sections of Liffey Street Lower and Upper. This project was approved by councillors in September 2019 after direct action by Dublin Cycling Campaign, Irish Pedestrian Network and Dublin Commuter Coalition under the Streets are for People campaign.

You can find more details on the project including drawings and mock-ups on the Dublin City Council project website.
